An extraordinary light collection - Rosenthal Phi Lights

Freeze, Spindrift, City, Manhattan, Snow - Rosenthal has translated five avantgarde structures by the English designer Cairn Young into the extraordinary light collection Phi Lights. It consists of hanging lamps, high-quality, cordless table lamps with LED illumination as well as scented lights filled with fine wax, which create a unique lighting effect in every ambience.

Complex geometric patterns cover the white porcelain bodies and transform the lamps into sculptural objects with a surprising 3D effect: triangles become frosty flowers, crystals form snowflakes, cubic bodies form a skyline. The translucent light breaks up the strict forms and plays with the surface of the mat translucent porcelain. This makes the fascinating structure of the objects visible.

"Ever since my father gave me a flipbook as a child, I have been fascinated by how you can bring movement into rigid objects," says British designer Cairn Young (*1963), who originally comes from California, but began his career as an architect and designer at Kingston University in London. For many years, Cairn Young has been one of the most outstanding representatives of the British design scene. With his special feeling for volume and form, he had been also involved in the development of the award-winning Rosenthal collection Á la carte.

As a partner for the creation of the hanging lamps, Rosenthal has brought the design label NUD Collection on board, which is making a name for itself internationally with its creative lighting concepts.
