Excellent cooperation: Equilibrium wins German Design Award 2019

Designed by Dutch designer Edward van Vliet, the bathroom collection Equilibrium receives a German Design Award 2019: Winner in the Bath & Wellness category. The collection brings together the know-how and the aesthetics of two renowned companies: the Spanish brand POMD`OR, which specializes in the design of accessories and furniture for the bathroom, and the German porcelain manufacturer Rosenthal.

Equilibrium brings natural materials such as porcelain, marble, wood and glass together in per-fect harmony. It includes a range of accessories made from porcelain in delicate white and soft celadon green, (photo, right) which can be adorned with decorative designs (gradient and netting) or reliefs (grooved and hexagonal). The porcelain is combined with three different metallic coatings (chrome, gold and bronze). The collection also includes elegant furniture made from dark oak that stands out thanks to textured front surfaces.

Round countertop washbasins made from smooth, white ceramic or with grooved surfaces make the perfect complement to these furniture items. The smooth basins feature a decorative flower on the inside – a detail typical of the designer's style. The design includes a bowl made from Carrara marble that can be mounted on top of the furniture and provides a base for the washbasin in order to protect the wood.

The collection also includes an impressive oval wall mirror with ambient LED lighting and grooved frame.
The shower area has a walk-in shower screen with a metal frame and three different surface options (transparent, bronze or chrome effect). The shower basket, made from finished metal bars, containing a marble shelf and a towel ring, makes the perfect accessory. Both are hung on porcelain hooks. Bath tubs and wash basins complete the ensemble.

Edward van Vliet is known for his ideas for entire rooms and finds inspiration for his designs in Ara-bic and Japanese culture. His trademark is the mixture of a wide variety of components: patterns, coatings, natural elements, cultures, values and traditions fused with materials, colours and light on unique interior projects.

The German Design Award, which was launched in 2012, is one of the most renowned design competitions in the world and is awarded by the German Design Council. Overall, the jury assessed more than 5,400 submissions.
