Scottish court denies UAE extradition request of Edinburgh bus driver following expert testimony from Detained In Dubai’s Radha Stirling.

Detained in Dubai applauded Scotland’s decision today to refuse extradition of their client Garrett Black to the United Arab Emirates, following the organisation’s involvement in the case. Garrett Black, a bus driver from Edinburgh, found himself fighting an extradition request for "breach of trust" by former UAE son in law, apparently as a result of a domestic dispute with Garrett’s daughter.

After the recent cases of Jamie Harron and Billy Barclay, another Scotsman has come forward to speak about his own Middle East nightmare. 46-year-old businessman and politician David Ballantine, reportedly lost his life savings after being detained in the UAE for 2 years after a mixup with a £2 taxi payment.

British family man Billy Barclay, who narrowly escaped jail in the UAE recently adds his voice to the International campaign to free fellow Brits held in Dubai, Jamil Mukadam and Jamie Harron. Both face jail for offences frighteningly easy for any Western visitor to fall foul of. Billy believes the FCO ought to be much more vigilant in its warnings to travellers, and helpful to those in trouble

Billy Barclay was warned by the British Government not to proceed with advice from Detained in Dubai. They reportedly advised him to not take his story to the media and that doing so would make matters worse. This advice is alarming, as most cases have shown that active media campaigning has proved to be sometimes the only way innocent people detained in the UAE can gain their freedom.
Anguish for Edinburgh family as innocent father held in Dubai, facing a year in jail over counterfeit money mix up

A British father of two is being held in Dubai since September 15th, facing up to a year in jail for charges (of passing a counterfeit banknote) he has already been cleared of. He was arrested, investigated and released to continue his holiday. But when he returned to the UAE the following year for another holiday, a mix up in the system saw him arrested and detained. He is still being held.
