Bakers set to compete in ‘Great Scunny Bake Off’ for Action on Stroke Month

Members of the Stroke Association’s Long Term Peer Support group in Scunthorpe are inviting local residents to don their aprons and take part in the annual ‘Great Scunny Bake Off’ on Tuesday 28 April.

The event will be held at St Bernadette’s Parish Centre on Ashby Road from 1:30pm - 3:30pm and will kick off celebrations for Action on Stroke Month this May, while raising vital funds for the Stroke Association.

The group meets each month at the centre in Scunthorpe and provides support for stroke survivors and carers. Mayor of North Lincolnshire, Councillor Trevor Foster, will act as one of the judges for the competition.

Sally Darley from the Stroke Association said: “We’d love for people to bring their culinary creations along to the group and pay £3 to enter the cake competition.

The cakes will be sampled by the Mayor of North Lincolnshire and independent judges who will crown the ‘King or Queen of Cakes’. Our judges will be looking for good presentation, taste, quality of bake and of course, there’ll be extra points for a Stroke Association theme.”
