New stroke group launched for stroke survivors in Barnstaple

Press release -

New stroke group launched for stroke survivors in Barnstaple

A new support group for younger stroke survivors has launched in Barnstaple. The group will meet monthly at Barnstaple Social Club on St Georges Road, at 7pm.

Stroke is usually associated with older people, but one in four survivors is of working age. Barnstaple Young Stroke Survivors Group, which has been set up by the Stroke Association, provides a place for younger stroke survivors to meet and share their experiences.

Sonya Webb, Support Coordinator at the Stroke Association, said: “Our new support group will be a much-needed place for local stroke survivors and their families to come together and support each other.

‘Stroke is life-changing, but we know that the opportunity to meet other people going through a similar experience can really make a difference to the lives of stroke survivors. It’s hugely important that stroke survivors feel supported in their local community and this group can help them on their road to recovery.”

The Barnstaple Young Stroke Survivors Group meets from 7pm to 9pm on the second Tuesday of the month, at Barnstaple Social Club on St Georges Road.
