Stroke Association response to Autumn Statement 2023
Juliet Bouverie OBE, Chief Executive of the Stroke Association said: “The Autumn Statement is a costly missed opportunity. There is nothing to address the fundamental, structural issues in the health service and stroke patients will miss out. There is a noticeable, disappointing absence of measures to address the NHS crisis, ahead of a tough winter, when action is desperately needed to ensure all patients can receive timely and effective care. Stroke is preventable, treatable and recoverable and the Chancellor should know this. It costs the UK economy £26 billion a year – but with appropriate interventions, we can save money and change lives.”
