The Stroke Association calls on Northampton runners to help conquer stroke

The Stroke Association is appealing to Northampton runners to help conquer stroke, by joining the charity’s team at the Northampton Half Marathon on Sunday 06 September.

Alexa Wigfield, Regional Fundraiser from the Stroke Association in the East Midlands, said: “The Northampton Half Marathon course is a good mix of town centre running and country lanes, bringing together the heritage of Northampton's industrial past and the surrounding countryside.

“Taking partin the half-marathon is a fun and inspiring experience. But there’s a serious purpose behind it; stroke is the leading cause of complex adult disability in the UK. At the Stroke Association we want to be there for everyone affected by stroke, so please do join us and raise the funds that will help make that possible.”

There are around 9,700 people who have a stroke in the East Midlands every year, and around 93,000 people in the East Midlands living with the effects of stroke.

There’s still time to join the start line of the Northampton Half Marathon. To secure your place contact Alexa Wigfield on 0115 871 2469 or email alexa.wigfield@stroke.org.uk and receive your fundraising pack, a free running vest and a 12 week training plan.
