Press release -

Thrill-seekers dared to take part in Stroke Association Nightfall Zip Slide

The Stroke Association is calling on thrill-seekers to take part in the charity’s first ever Nightfall Zip Slide, from the roof of the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Arts.

As dusk descends over Newcastle on Friday 06 November and Saturday 07 November, adrenaline junkies will have the opportunity to zip 846ft from the top of the BALTIC across to the Sage.

Lauren Flint,Regional Fundraiser at the Stroke Association, said: “This event has never been done before and it’s set to be one of our most daring and exciting fundraisers yet. This is the longest zip slide ever offered in Newcastle, with the added excitement of being at night.

“With around 152,000 strokes a year in the UK – that’s one every three and a half minutes - it is vital that we have people who can raise funds for people affected by stroke. We’re calling for daredevils across the North East to take on this exhilarating opportunity, all while raising much needed funds. Together we can conquer stroke.”

Over 5,500 people have a stroke in the North East each year, and more than 16,200 people in the area are living with a disability after a stroke.

The entry fee for the Stroke AssociationNightfall Zip Wire is £20, with a minimum sponsorship target of £100.
