Two friends Linda Holland from Herne bay and Derek Dummer (Del) from Whitstabletook a massive leap on the 7th April 2015when they completed a skydive to raise funds for the Stroke Association. The pair were motivated to take on a major challenge after they saw the determination of their friend’s Dad, Fred Tugwell, who had a massive stroke last May.
Two local stroke survivors and volunteers are set to take part in the charity’s Step out for Stroke event, despite being more than 1,600 miles away from Scunthorpe, near Gibraltar.

After raising over £50,000 last year from several fundraising challenges, Nick and Jo Cann are back on the road and training for the CARTEN 100 mile cycle ride.
Nick is on long term sick leave recovering from a stroke he had in March 2013. Following the stroke Nick has weakness on his right side and communication difficulties with his speech.

Richard Wright and his family, from Aylesbury, will be Stepping out for Stroke at a fundraising walk in Kingsbury Square on the 16th May 2015, just over two years after his stroke. The local community is also supporting the walk with Sainsbury providing water and bananas and St Mary’s Church opening its doors and laying on refreshments for participants, friends and family.
Today the Stroke Association is calling on the local community in Middlesex to volunteer at the charity’s biggest annual event of the year, the Thames Bridges Bike Ride, on Sunday 10 May.
