Appeal after car driven onto pavement near pedestrians in Walton

We are currently in attendance in Walton where a blue Ford Fiesta drove onto the pavement at roughly 2.17pm today (Jan 19) in Cottimore Lane, crashed and then left the area.

This followed an earlier pursuit of the vehicle after the driver had failed to stop for officers.

Fortunately no injuries to pedestrians have been reported, but the vehicle may have been in collision with others during the incident.

Police Sergeant Dave Richardson said: “This is a serious incident in which the driver appeared to deliberately drive onto the pavement putting pedestrians at risk.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened, including before this incident or afterwards when the driver left the area again.”

Officers searched the area after the crash and have arrested a man on suspicion of dangerous driving, attempted grievous bodily harm with intent and failing to stop.”
