Angry Ginge makes history as first Brit to livestream a skydive
22nd October - Red Bull player Morgan “Angry Ginge” Burtwistle today made UK history, completing the country’s first fully livestreamed skydive, jumping from 13,000 feet alongside Red Bull Athlete Dani Roman.
The reigning King of the Jungle, who became the first social media star to win I’m A Celebrity, promised fans that if he reached 17,500 subscribers on Twitch he would jump out of a plane live on stream. Today, he kept that promise.
Over 26,000 viewers watched every moment live, from take-off at Langar Airfield, Nottingham, and the climb to altitude through freefall, to the parachute opening and his descent to the ground. The world’s biggest streamers, including IShowSpeed, have streamed high-adrenaline stunts live, from bungee jumps to Las Vegas’s Sky Jump but a skydive streamed in full and in real time from the UK skies has never been done before.
The interest wasn’t limited to Twitch, as the plane climbed, it became the most tracked flight in the world on FlightRadar24.
Angry Ginge said: “We made history. That was honestly unbelievable, mental, amazing. My stomach was doing somersaults. That’s what it feels like in [Call of Duty] Warzone! Shout out Red Bull. That’s one of the best things I’ve ever done, and on my streaming anniversary as well.”
