CO-OP SURVIVAL TOWNBUILDER 'ROMESTEAD' REVEALS ROADMAP

Brave Romans can look forward to new dungeons and buildings, new quality of life features, and a brand new biome that will take players back to a familiar place

STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN, 25th June 2026 — Today, Three Friends, the industry veterans behind Valheim and Minecraft, and indie studio Beartwigs, have officially unveiled the first roadmap for their recently released survival townbuilder Romestead. Titled ‘Romestead Act 1: The Fall of Rome’, this look at what is coming to the game next focuses on optimisations, updates to existing content, and the introduction of brand new content, including a fourth biome.

Romestead Act 1: The Fall of Rome includes a number of exciting features including:

End of summer:

  • Introduction of full controller implementation using Steam Input
  • Network optimisations to improve multiplayer connection performance
  • Official Steam Deck verification expanding support for handheld players
  • More varied and challenging dungeons
  • Even more quality of life and balancing features, along with more bug fixes

On the horizon:

  • A fourth biome which will take players to a familiar location to explore and rebuild as they return home — expect new dangers, new buildings, and more
  • With this, players can also enjoy new building tiers, new armour sets, new enemy types, even more dungeon types, and more challenging bosses
  • Plus more to be announced…

Since its launch into Steam Early Access on May 26th, Romestead has now sold more than 400,000 copies worldwide, and has continued to receive multiple updates a week based on player feedback. This roadmap reveal is just the beginning of Romestead’s ongoing development, with additional roadmaps to follow down the road.

Romestead is a co-op survival game based around a mythical fall of Ancient Rome with a fantasy twist, developed by Beartwigs and published by a brand new, 4-person publishing team including Mojang’s first employee and the lead publisher who discovered Valheim. Players will be tasked with rebuilding their Roman settlement, fighting off hordes of undead, and hunting beasts of myth.
