Coffee Stain Studios’ Satisfactory Update 1.2 Experimental Available Now on PC
Players can dive in and test Update 1.2 Experimental today to try out newly added controller remapping, resource node randomisation, weather effects, and much more
SKÖVDE, Sweden, 17th March 2026 - Today, Coffee Stain Studios has launched Update 1.2 Experimental on PC for their acclaimed factory automation game Satisfactory. With this release, Pioneers will get their first look at Satisfactory’s second major update since its widely successful and award-winning 1.0 launch. This update introduces a range of exciting new features for playtesting, including a diverse weather system, major new game mode options, an overhaul to vehicle automation, and much more.
Satisfactory Experimental is a branch of the game that allows players to test out upcoming updates and share their feedback with the development team before the full release. This longstanding process has seen the community shape the game’s development since its very beginning, and Coffee Stain Studios is eager to continue this collaboration with this latest update.
Key game features of Update 1.2 include:
- Remappable controller key binds have been added allowing for further customisation and accessibility, as Pioneers on PlayStation DualSense or Xbox controllers can now choose which buttons will be mashed the most throughout their mission.
- Randomised Nodes and new game mode options let players adjust their game session with a range of modifiers. Pioneers can test the new Randomised Nodes option to change ore deposit locations, with five different presets that adjust resource ratios across the alien planet. The total number of nodes in the world remains the same. Additionally, new modifiers have been added to settings that enable adjusting parts cost multipliers, Space Elevator costs, resource purity, energy consumption, and also the world seed.
- Weather changes reintroduces rain to MASSAGE-2(A-B)b alongside many other weather options, including cloudy, windy, and stormy, with a touch of thunder and lightning in those harsher weather conditions. These weather states can overlap, creating even more unpredictability, with rain and wind combining to make exploration that little bit more eventful.
- Vehicle automation is getting overhauled to make factory transport logistics smoother than ever. Trucks, tractors, the Explorer, and the Factory Cart have had a system upgrade that allows players to create vehicle paths directly from the Build Gun using the familiar spline system used by other buildables. All vehicles have also had their suspensions tweaked for a smoother ride and better all-terrain drive.
- Introducing the Fluid Truck and Fluid Station enabling long-haul fluid transportation the way it was always intended — across miles of concrete. Fluids can be collected and deposited at new Fluid Stations, offering new ways to keep production lines running cross-planet.
- SPWN has arrived, bringing hygiene and relief to Pioneers on the go. This new buildable toilet serves as a spawn point that can be placed wherever the mission goes. Whether that’s deep in the wilderness or high above sprawling conveyor systems, these nifty ceramics double up as human waste disposal and portable respawn points.
- Quality of life changes bring brand new features like power daisy chaining between buildings and power cables, a fog density slider, and a new T-shaped pipe for more advanced fluid junctions. Pioneers will now also be able to truly stop in-game time when entering the pause menu.
Satisfactory is a first-person open-world factory-building game first released in 2019, selling over six million copies during its first five years of development. In September 2024, the game launched out of Early Access to critical acclaim, followed by its console debut on PlayStation and Xbox in November 2025. In Satisfactory, players become Pioneers and must explore an alien world, encountering strange and potentially hostile wildlife, all while pushing the limits of industrial automation to achieve peak efficiency.
Satisfactory Update 1.2 Experimental is available to play now on PC through Steam and Epic Games Store. You can find the latest assets folder here.
