COPENHAGEN, DENMARK, March 12th, 2026 – Today, Ghost Ship Publishing and developer Funday Games revealed Heavy Duty, the first expansion for Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, launching April 30th on Steam and Xbox. Announced during the Future Games Show at GDC, the expansion introduces a brand-new vehicle-focused class called Demolisher, armed with powerful new weaponry, and a host of fresh tools designed to help miners meet Deep Rock Galactic’s ever-increasing productivity quotas.
Management has reviewed the numbers and reached a conclusion: current output levels are insufficient. To remedy this unfortunate situation, R&D is deploying the Demolisher, a high-velocity mining specialist operating a Rock Dozer. Featuring a new class, a powerful vehicle, and a suite of experimental weaponry, the Demolisher further expands the game with new ways to mine rock and kill bugs.
Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor has already proven a hit since its launch, selling over two million copies on Steam alone since its release into Early Access, launching on Xbox and mobile, and expanding the Deep Rock Galactic universe with its intense survival gameplay. The Heavy Duty expansion marks the first major DLC following the game’s 1.0 launch, bringing new strategies, fresh chaos, and plenty of opportunities for miners to prove their mettle.
Meet the Demolisher
When the job calls for brute force and reckless efficiency, the Demolisher answers. This is the first brand-new character to join the Deep Rock Galactic IP, bringing new tags, synergies, and weapon combos.
At the heart of the Demolisher’s kit is the Rock Dozer, a powerful vehicle designed to carve paths through Hoxxes IV, leaving a trail of broken rock and bug carcasses behind. The three unique class mods, Contractor, Gridrunner, and Operator, offer different ways to boost mining output, maintain high-speed mobility, or fine-tune their machinery for maximum underground efficiency.
A Fresh Arsenal
Heavy Duty also introduces 10 new weapons, increasing the game’s total arsenal from 42 to 52. While introduced alongside the Demolisher, these tools of destruction can also be used by other classes once unlocked, giving dwarves across the company access to some seriously heavy duty hardware.
The new lineup ranges from the elemental firepower of the Twincoil Arc Burster and Dragonstorm Incinerator to gadgets like the Carrier Drone and the chain of Slither Drones, which bring automated support to the battlefield, keeping the bugs busy while miners focus on the job at hand. For those who prefer a more tactical approach, the Proximity Mine, Voltaic Field Generator, and the Kaisong Scissor Ray provide new ways to control the swarm. And, when subtlety isn’t required, heavy hitters like the Chimera Fragcannon exterminate converging enemy hordes.
