Open-World Farming Adventure Lightyear Frontier Releases Into 1.0 on November 4th
Closing out its Early Access journey this November, Lightyear Frontier will officially release into 1.0 on PC via Steam and XBOX Series X|S via the XBOX Store.
Skövde, Sweden - 29th September 2026: Lightyear Frontier, the intergalactic open-world farming adventure from FRAME BREAK, will be releasing into 1.0 on November 4th. Announced during Coffee Stain Publishing’s brand-new indie digital showcase, The Big Break, Lightyear Frontier will conclude its Early Access journey with its biggest update yet, building on the game’s Automation update in March. The 1.0 release will bring the introduction of new endgame content, quality-of-life enhancements, and mech upgrades alongside even more ways for players to build, grow and enjoy their homestead experience, shaped by player feedback throughout Early Access.
You can watch the 1.0 Release Date Announcement trailer here.
Lightyear Frontier’s 1.0 release will take players into the Sandswept Highlands, the game’s final region and an expansive new area teeming with undiscovered plants, resources, and secrets tied to the story of those who came before. Beyond the Sandswept Highlands, players can expect to uncover new milestones, a fully powered-up mech and reworked core systems, with further improvements to progression, UI and performance rounding out the update.
Players can build their ultimate mech with streamlined upgrade paths for tools, body parts and transform modes, offering greater freedom to customise their setup without the need for tier-by-tier recrafting. The fully upgraded mech also unlocks new ways to farm, including continuous flight via the skyblazer transform mode, powerful hover thrusters and a rapid-fire seeding mod chip. Together, these additions give players more freedom to tailor their setup to their farming needs, streamline operations and make the most of their mech's full potential.
Finally, the road to 1.0 marks a final chapter in the game’s main storyline, introducing a series of late-game missions to conclude players’ heroic journeys. Alongside these major additions, 1.0 brings a host of quality-of-life improvements and additional features.
Since launching into Early Access in 2024, Lightyear Frontier has evolved across six major content updates, each introducing new features, improvements and ways for players to explore and build their lives on the frontier. These include Animal & Neighbors, Rev Up and Roll Out, Shifting Gears, Greater Cause, Country Roads, and the most recent Automation Update, which introduced the Automator to streamline farming and crafting, new progression milestones, building improvements and a jetpack to enhance aerial navigation, alongside a host of other features and quality-of-life improvements.
“We set out on this journey in 2020, beginning development on Lightyear Frontier before eventually launching into Early Access in 2024”, says Mattias Lindblad, CEO of FRAME BREAK. “As we approach this major milestone, it’s incredible to see how far we’ve come as a team and how much we’ve achieved alongside our community. We’re excited to take this next step, welcome new players into our world and continue our journey into 1.0 together. “
Lightyear Frontier is an open-world farming adventure set on a vast and vibrant alien planet. Players climb into their powerful, trusty mech to build their dream homestead, cultivate crops, deliver produce to remote colonies, and make the untamed world their own. From gathering resources and crafting to exploring new frontiers, expanding their farm, and meeting new neighbours, every step brings players closer to a thriving home.
Lightyear Frontier is set to release globally into 1.0 on November 4th, and will be available on PC via Steam and XBOX Series X|S via the XBOX Store.
