Open-World Farming Adventure Lightyear Frontier Releases Into 1.0 on PC and Xbox Series X|S

Lightyear Frontier, the intergalactic farming adventure, is now out in 1.0 on PC via Steam and Xbox Series X|S via the XBOX Store. Marking its largest update ever, Exofarmers can power up their trusty mechs, venture in uncharted lands and take their homestead to new heights!

Skövde, Sweden - 4th November 2026: Developer FRAME BREAK and publisher Coffee Stain Publishing are excited to announce that their intergalactic open-world farming adventure Lightyear Frontier is now out in 1.0 across PC via Steam and Xbox Series X|S via the XBOX Store.

Bringing Lightyear Frontier’s Early Access journey to a close, 1.0 marks the biggest update yet, adding a wealth of new endgame content, quality-of-life improvements and mech upgrades. The full release brings the complete Lightyear Frontier experience to players, shaped by feedback from the community throughout Early Access.

Home Sweet Homestead

The 1.0 update opens up two new regions for players to explore: the Hollow Marsh and the Sandswept Highlands, together increasing the world size by 40%, and teeming with undiscovered plants, resources and secrets tied to the story of those who came before. The Sandswept Highlands introduces a vast desert landscape filled with towering mesas, ancient ruins, valuable late-game resources and extra tough Floaters, putting even the most experienced Exofarmers to the test. Meanwhile, nestled among its clifftops, Hollow Marsh offers an otherworldly change of scenery, complete with blue grass, red waters, fog-shrouded swamps and the all-new Starfall Tree.

Players can also embark on an entirely new chapter in their homestead journey, with a final chapter added to the game’s main storyline. Along the way, two new milestones await, bringing additional constructs, upgrades and mod chips to unlock and put to use throughout their adventure.

Unlocking Full Exofarming Potential

At the heart of the update is a mech that’s been upgraded to unlock its full farming potential. Streamlined upgrade paths for tools and body parts remove the need to recraft equipment at every tier, making it easier for players to customise their setup to suit their playstyle. With continuous flight in the new Skyblazer transform mode, players can take farming to new heights, while powerful hover thrusters and rapid-fire seeding mod chips help make light work of even the biggest farming jobs.

A new dynamic weather system also brings seamless transitions between days and weather conditions, making the intergalactic world feel more natural as exofarmers tend to their crops and explore its changing environment. Managing a thriving homestead is smoother than ever too, with item filters that send stored resources straight to crafting, recipe queuing to keep production running, and a planning mode to help players map out resources and builds.

A unified difficulty system lets players shape the frontier to their preferences, offering adjustable damage, day length, fuel consumption, hazards, crafting and crop growth times. In tandem with reworked core systems, progression, UI and performance improvements, and plenty of quality-of-life additions, these changes deliver the most complete experience yet, with more ways than ever to build a life on the intergalactic frontier.

A New Chapter Takes Root

Since launching into Early Access in 2024, Lightyear Frontier has expanded through seven major content updates: Animals & Neighbors, Making It Home, Rev Up and Roll Out, Shifting Gears, Greater Cause, Country Roads and the latest Automation Update. Together, these updates have introduced new features and gameplay enhancements for players to build and explore their frontier.
