SURVIVAL TOWNBUILDER ‘ROMESTEAD’ SURPASSES 250,000 SALES IN FIRST WEEK
STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN, 3rd June 2026 — Today, Three Friends, the industry veterans behind Valheim and Minecraft, and indie studio Beartwigs, are thrilled to announce that their newly released survival townbuilder Romestead has sold over 250,000 copies in its first week. After launching into Steam Early Access on May 26th, players around the world have sharpened their swords to defeat the undead and set out to rebuild Rome from the ashes.
The past week has seen many other exciting milestones for Romestead, including:
- A peak of over 37,000 concurrent players worldwide as week-on-week CCUs continue to climb.
- Popularity has continued to flourish with no signs of slowing down, as the game has now surpassed 478,000 wishlists.
- A diverse and engaged global community, with 45% of sales in China, 26% in English-speaking regions, with the remainder spread across Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
- More than 593,000 hours streamed on Twitch, once again with creators across the globe sharing their experiences with their audience.
- Players have already spent a combined 200+ years rebuilding the Roman empire
- Breaking the Top 50 most played games on Steam by daily active users, sitting at 47 as of today
“I don’t even know the Roman numeral for the number of players we have,” says Sam Bloom, Co-Founder and Developer at Beartwigs.
With the support of the community, Romestead has already received several patches to fix bugs and balance gameplay, sometimes multiple times a day. Developer Beartwigs are continuing to refine the experience to build a solid foundation before the reveal of their planned roadmap, which will include plans for a fourth major biome featuring entirely new tiers of buildings, armours, enemies, dungeons, and bosses.
