Press release —
The Gates of Chaos Open! The Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME Unleashes Chaos Origins with a new visual change to Starlight Rares!
Featuring Yami Yugi the King of Games, and his favourite monsters from the original Yu-Gi-Oh! manga and anime
WINDSOR, UNITED KINGDOM – July 2, 2026 – Konami Digital Entertainment, B.V. (KONAMI) launches Chaos Origins for the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME (TCG). Introduced in this booster set is the new visual update to Starlight Rares as they now produce richer colours and replace the grey outer card border with a rainbow foil border.
This 100-card booster set also reimagines monsters like Black Luster Soldier and Magician of Black Chaos, with powerful new effects designed to compete in today’s tournaments and adds five frame-breaking extended art cards. New versions of Yugi’s most famous monsters make a re-appearance with new effects as well such as Summoned Skull, Celtic Guardian and Kuriboh.
Also returning in this set is the Sacred Beasts from the original storyline of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX. These new versions of the Sacred Beasts cannot be Summoned except by a “Sacred Beast” card effect which multiple duplicates are included in this set making it easier to Summon them. Each also has improved versions of their original powers. Alongside the Sacred Beasts, the core “Blitzclique” monsters also receive updated effects with a brand-new theme of Thunder scavengers.
Furthermore, a chess theme has been dedicated to this booster set centred around the King of Games. A rare theme as this chess concept has no Main Deck monsters but rather Spells, Traps and Synchro Monsters and relies on Duelists to place their Monster cards into the Spell & Trap Zones.
Chaos Origins contains:
- 10 Secret Rares
- 14 Ultra Rares
- 26 Super Rares
- 50 Commons
- 5 cards available as extended art Ultra Rares and Starlight Rares
- 20 additional cards available as Starlight Rares
