Press release —
World of Warships’ Longest Night of Museums mega-stream returns for sixth year, exploring the 160-year history of torpedoes
Kicking off 15th June, the Longest Night of Museums stream returns with a tour through torpedo history in partnership with maritime museums from across the globe
May 26, 2025 - Wargaming, the developer and publisher of the leading naval multiplayer game World of Warships, has announced the sixth annual Longest Night of Museums historical livestream event, taking place on June 15th. This year’s event will dive into the history of torpedoes across seven world-class museums during a special live broadcast on the official World of Warships Twitch channel. Alongside the livestream announcement, a special video commemorating the 85th anniversary of the sinking of iconic German battleship Bismarck is also available to watch on YouTube, along with an in-game Hunt for Bismarck event in World of Warships for fans to enjoy.
The Longest Night of Museums Returns For Its 6th Anniversary
The Longest Night of Museums is back for its sixth year, hosted in honor of Museum Night, an annual Europe-wide festival which sees museums and cultural institutions remain open to patrons all throughout the night. This year’s theme is torpedoes, with the mega-stream exploring 160 years of torpedo history, from Robert Whitehead’s pioneering self-propelled designs of the 19th century to the precision-guided weapons of the Cold War and beyond.
Streaming on June 15th from 4pm UTC on the official World of Warships Twitch channel, the broadcast will run for approximately 4 hours. Throughout the stream, seven museums from across the globe – including the US Naval Undersea Museum, Oscarsborg Fortress Museum, HMS Cavalier at The Historic Dockyard Chatham, and the Australian National Maritime Museum – will each share their expertise on a different era of torpedo history.
Throughout the stream, viewers will be able engage in Q&A sessions with museum representatives, gain rare access to torpedo artifacts and restored exhibits, and enjoy special documentary content from military history partners.
The event is also featuring exclusive reveals and Twitch drops, alongside a special four-part, torpedo-themed combat mission in World of Warships. Players are tasked with completing a series of torpedo-focused challenges, including dealing torpedo and flooding damage, landing torpedo hits, and spotting incoming torpedoes, with rewards including in-game containers and a camouflage upon reaching set gameplay milestones.
The 85th Anniversary of The Hunt for Bismarck
In addition to the Longest Night of Museums stream, World of Warships has prepared a special video for the 85th anniversary of Bismarck’s demise, exploring the legacy of the historic German battleship. Bismarck was a major target for the Royal Navy during World War II, constantly threatening Allied convoys in the Atlantic, and ultimately sinking the esteemed HMS Hood during the Battle of the Denmark Strait. Just a few days after the battle, with the British in relentless pursuit, Bismarck herself was sunk on May 27th 1941 following a round of attacks by Fairey Swordfish torpedo bombers.
The Bismarck 85th anniversary video can be watched here on YouTube.
A major new Hunt for Bismarck Event has also arrived in World of Warships, headlining the game’s latest content update. Fans can take part in an in-game Bounty Hunt to obtain the Bismarck '41, Prince of Wales, and Eiserner Kanzler, a special Bismarck with a historically accurate camouflage reflecting the ship’s damage in her final battle, along with themed camouflages for Bismarck, like the commander Ernst Lindemann, special destruction effects, and more.
