Press release -
Hailsham Gears Up For Summer Carnival & Lark In The Park
Organised by the Lark in the Park Charitable Trust in partnership with Hailsham Town Council, the event, incorporating a cartoon theme this year, promises to be full of fun, excitement and activities for all ages.
The Mayor of Hailsham, Cllr Robin Kempe, will open the proceedings just before the carnival procession, which departs from London Road at 2pm and follows a route through the High Street, on to the Maurice Thornton Playing Fields, where the Mayor will officially open the Lark In The Park event. A rolling road closure will take place along the procession route.
Among the diversions on offer at the Maurice Thornton Playing Fields are live music, craft and charity stalls, competitions and many other activities. There will also be a funfair open until late, and a Floral Arrangement Show will be held at the adjoining Hailsham East Community Centre at Vega Close.
A percentage of all funds raised on the day will go to the Lark In The Park Charitable Trust and to many other charities taking part.
Councillor John Puttick, town councilor and a member of the Hailsham Carnival Committee, promises something even bigger and better than last summer: “Hailsham’s summer festivities get bigger and bigger every year. The turnout last year was excellent and, with an impressive line-up of attractions for the whole family, Lark In The Park is due to be one event that is getting the town motivated for an amazing summer day out!”
“It has once again been a pleasure to work with and support the Lark In The Park Charitable Trust who have worked tremendously hard in organising the festival, and I would encourage the local community to come along, get involved and enjoy the spectacle.”
The Mayor of Hailsham, Councillor Robin Kempe said, “Now in its second year in Hailsham, I’m sure the festival will be a hit again this next month and a fun and engaging opportunity for all those who take part. We mustn’t forget that Lark In The Park is also an important fundraising event for many local charities.”
