TeXtreme® helps Formula Student teams drop 30 kilos!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Borås, Sweden, 8th of July 2010

TeXtreme® Spread Tow Fabrics has been used by five different teams in this year’s Formula Student competitions. With the help of TeXtreme® the teams has been able to get rid of 30 kilos of weight on their composites parts from last year.

The usage of carbon fabrics to lower the weight and improve performance was of great importance for the teams and the choice for the teams then fell on the ultra light Spread Tow carbon fabric TeXtreme®. The wide use of TeXtreme® amongst the successful Formula 1 teams that has lowered the weight with about 20-30% on their composites parts functioned as a source for inspiration.

Henrik Blycker, CEO, at Oxeon says: “We were flattered by the interest of using TeXtreme® material and also impressed by the knowledge and ambitions of the teams, so we really felt that sponsoring these teams was the right thing to do”.

The Formula Student race will take part on the Silverstone circuit in the United Kingdom between the 15th and the 18th of July and Formula Student Germany will take part on the Hockenheim circuit in Germany between the 4th and the 8th of August.
