Press release -
High hopes for Thule Adventure Team in ‘Abu Dhabi Adventure Challenge’ starting tomorrow, Friday 10th December
It’s time for Abu Dhabi Adventure Challenge, considered to be the world’s premier adventure racing event. This year’s race will start tomorrow, Friday December 10, attracting about 50 teams representing more than 20 nations. Each team consists of four members, and they’ll be racing for six consecutive days in the desert country.
Thule Adventure Team members Richard and Elina Ussher have won every Abu Dhabi Adventure Challenge race since the start in 2007. This makes Thule Adventure Team an absolute favourite, but it’s a tough race and the competition is fierce.
During the previous races the teams have raced in Abu Dhabi in a clock-wise direction, but this year the direction has been reversed. The change is assumed to make the race even more challenging and will call for different tactics than in the previous Abu Dhabi races. The teams will swim, canoe, bike, run, orienteer, climb and abseil in mountains, on desert roads, in the sea and in sand dunes, and will possibly need to deal with sand storms (headwind!).
The 2010 Abu Dhabi Adventure Challenge will definitely be a tough and exciting race in spectacular surroundings. Who will make it to the podium positions this year?
Go Thule Adventure Team!
