Department of Health (National): Diagnostics waiting times and activity data, month ending 30 November 2010

The following statistics were released today by the Department of Health:

The monthly data published today gives the waiting times for 15 key diagnostic tests carried out in the NHS.

Main findings this month

  • The number of patients, for whom English commissioners are responsible, waiting over 6 weeks for any one of the 15 key diagnostics tests at the end of November 2010 was 5,700, an increase of 300 (6.2%) from October 2010, and 2,900 (90.2%) from November 2009.
  • Of the patients waiting at the end of November 2010, 98.9% had been waiting under 6 weeks, compared to 99.0% in October 2010, and 99.4% in November 2009.
  • This month, figures exclude data for University Hospital of North Staffordshire NHS Trust, who did not submit a return
