Press release -
UK Trade & Investment (London): Repeat course in export development for entrepreneurs
After the success of last year’s course, UK Trade & Investment’s London International Trade Team has again teamed up with Cass Business School to offer training to equip entrepreneurs with the skills and knowledge to unlock the international trade potential in their companies.
The modular Executive Development Programme (EDP) is available exclusively to London-based companies currently on UKTI’s Gateway to Global Growth scheme of advice and support for experienced exporters.
Starting on 16 June, the EDP covers the fundamentals of global business and is packed with practical and real-life examples. The five course modules include:
- International Financial Management
- Making Strategy Happen
- Client Service Management
- International Marketing
- Corporate Responsibility, Leadership, Culture and Ethics
Amber Hunter Love, General Manager of art licensing company the Bright Group International, who attended a number of modules last year, said: “We are currently expanding our global export markets from just the USA to Australia and Asia. The Cass modules reassured me that the business is taking the correct and necessary steps to build global partnerships around the world. In the early stages, the modules were very useful in overcoming the initial challenges we faced, helping to define our international export strategy and the steps we needed to take to achieve this.’’
Parveen Thornhill, UKTI International Trade Director for London, said: “At a time when global opportunities for business growth have never been greater, as well as encouraging more companies in the capital to get involved in overseas trade, UKTI’s aim is to help existing exporters increase their competitiveness and diversify into new markets.
“UKTI was proud to win Best Trade Promotion Organisation last year because of the Gateway scheme, and the training programme developed with Cass is part of this push to enable firms to realise their international potential. It focuses on the crucial role of London's entrepreneurs in driving exports, helping them develop the skills and knowledge they need to tackle overseas markets effectively. The positive reaction from companies that attended the first programme has encouraged us to repeat the course this year.”
Colin Carnall, Director of Executive Education at Cass Business School, said: “We’re pleased to be working with UKTI once again to help exporters unlock the international trade potential of their companies. With our world-class faculty and strong links to the City of London, Cass is well-placed to provide training expertise tailored to the needs of businesses.”
