Labour Party: No surprise that Conservative-led Government are having Big Society Crisis talks - Jowell

Tessa Jowell MP, Labour’s Shadow Cabinet Office Minister, speaking in response to reports that the Government’s Big Society scheme is in crisis, said:

“It’s no surprise that the Conservative-led Government are having crisis talks on the Big Society.

“There is an inherent contradiction between this flagship idea and their ideological choice of accelerated cuts. It is impossible to argue that the Big Society is being nurtured when the organisations and agencies which support community enterprise are laying off staff and reducing the services that they offer.”
