Boticca.com has been selected as one of twenty promising international start-ups to participate in the DLD Garage start-up programme, as part of the 2011 DLD Conference in Munich.

The aim of the DLD Garage initiative is to identify rising internet companies with the potential to disrupt their various sectors and to link them into the DLD community. This year’s selection includes twenty start-ups that span the categories of technology, social media, fashion, music, content and video.

Boticca is an online boutique for unique jewellery and fashion accessories by top emerging designers from around the world. Its London-based team scours the world looking for the very best independent designers and puts them all in one place, so that customers can experience the joy of that rare find and discover the unique stories behind these fascinating people and their pieces.

Global from the outset, Boticca’s curated website makes it easy for emerging designers to reach a broad international customer base, whilst providing them with a higher margin for profit than normally associated with traditional retailers due to more efficient distribution channels.

“We are delighted to participate in the DLD Garage this year, particularly in the company of such an excellent mix of high calibre start-ups,” says Avid Larizadeh, co-founder and COO of Boticca, who will be attending the event later this month.

Chaired by Yossi Vardi, DLD Garage is supported by a team of distinguished international DLD-network partners: ACCEL Partners (Sonali de Rycker), TechCrunch (Mike Butcher) and TOMORROW FOCUS AG (Stefan Winners).

The DLD Garage list for 2011 is composed of selected applications to the programme, as well as proposals from DLD Global Ambassadors; the list introduces an exciting mix of promising companies to the international scene.

The DLD Garage 2011 international start-up shortlist also includes Abe’s Market, Branchout, Everbread, Faces iMake, Flattr, FWIX, InTheMo, Instapaper, JamRT, Lyst, PeerIndex, Qriously, Quno, ResearchGATE, Right Rental, Shopperella, SoundCloud, UJAM and ViKi.
