Japanese serenity meets iconic design: Villeroy & Boch presents the new La Boule Kyoto

Some objects outlast trends – they become icons. Villeroy & Boch’s La Boule is one of them. Ever since Helen von Boch caught the design world’s attention in 1971 with her revolutionary ‘Sphere’, this tableware set in the shape of a porcelain sphere has epitomised what makes design timeless: an unmistakable aesthetic, masterful craftsmanship and the ability to evolve without losing its own spirit. With La Boule Kyoto, this iconic object writes its next chapter – inspired by Japanese culture and the timeless power of beauty.

A design classic reimagined

With the latest design of the iconic La Boule, Villeroy & Boch transports us into a world of Japanese harmony and serenity. With its sculptural form and interplay of neutral base tones and intense colour nuances, La Boule Kyoto embodies the values of Japanese craftsmanship and tradition. It perfectly captures the current zeitgeist in interior design, where the home becomes a stage for individual style, and timeless elegance will be combined with unique accents.

The La Boule Kyoto design is inspired by Japan’s rich culture: harmonious, eye-catching and elegant. Clean lines and geometric shapes combine with artfully designed cranes – symbols of happiness, harmony and longevity – as well as design elements reminiscent of classic kimono patterns. The carefully curated colour palette of warm beige, deep dark red, elegant dark blue and vibrant orange as an energetic accent is more than just aesthetics: it reflects Japanese symbolism and lends the design a depth that defines its identity. The result is a collector’s item that tells stories and shapes spaces.

“La Boule Kyoto is more than just an iconic product. It is an expression of balance, harmony and timeless elegance for modern living, delighting as a design object, a tableware set for two and a special gift idea", says Claudia Knaupp, Executive Vice President Marketing Dining & Lifestyle and Global Branding at Villeroy & Boch.

Design meets functionality: La Boule by Villeroy & Boch

La Boule is deeply rooted in the DNA of Villeroy & Boch and, like no other object, combines ceramic expertise with design and functionality. When broken down into its individual parts, it is a seven-piece tableware set for two people, comprising two bowls, two shallow bowls and two plates, as well as a serving plate, all made from high-quality premium porcelain made in Germany. When assembled, La Boule becomes a striking eye-catcher that impresses both on the table and in interior design.
