Less, but more thoughtfully: Minimalism is reinventing itself and influencing tableware

Classic minimalism is evolving. What once shaped the world of interior design with a cool, austere aesthetic is increasingly developing into a warmer, more emotional style – known as ‘soft minimalism’ or ‘warm minimalism’. This shift reflects society’s desire to slow down and for a home that is not only functional but also emotionally inviting and soothing.

Simplicity remains the guiding principle. Yet the new motto is no longer “less is more”, but rather: “Less, but more consciously.” Colours, shapes and materials intertwine harmoniously without dominating one another – the result is an atmosphere that radiates calm whilst simultaneously touching the heart.

Soft Minimalism on the table: Pura

This trend is also evident in tableware, where function, aesthetics and atmosphere come together directly. A table set in the style of Soft Minimalism looks tidy but not sparse; simple but not boring; high-quality without being overbearing. Every element – be it porcelain, glass or cutlery – blends harmoniously into the overall picture without standing out individually. At the same time, every single item has its place.

The Pura collection by Villeroy & Boch captures precisely this spirit of the times. The pure white Premium Bone Porcelain conveys the cool precision of classic minimalism, whilst the flowing, nature-inspired design language embodies the warmth of soft minimalism. The result is a timeless, relaxed elegance that provides an expressive backdrop for every meal – from everyday breakfast to an elegant dinner.

“Pura combines the clear aesthetics of classic minimalism with the sensual warmth of soft minimalism – and thus perfectly captures the current desire for understated aesthetics,” says Claudia Knaupp, Executive Vice President Marketing Dining & Lifestyle and Global Branding at Villeroy & Boch.

With Pura, Villeroy & Boch is making a clear statement: conscious, minimalist design does not have to be cold – it can be inviting, calming and inspiring all at once.
