Virgin West Coast summer timetable set to speed journeys from Lancaster and Liverpool from 12 June

Virgin West Coast is set to speed journeys between Lancaster, Liverpool and London Euston in its summer timetable from 12 June.

The 05:14 and 06:11 services from Lancaster are to leave later at 05:36 and 06:33 respectively, but will continue to arrive in London Euston at 08:40 and 09:13, saving 22 minutes on journey times.

Liverpool customers taking the 08:15 service from Lime Street to Euston will enjoy increased capacity and a faster journey time as their train will call only at Runcorn and Nuneaton.

Its current Stafford, Lichfield Trent Valley and Milton Keynes calls will instead be made by the 08:15 train from Manchester Piccadilly to London Euston.

On Saturdays from 17 June until 16 September, three nine-coach Pendolino trains will run between Holyhead and London Euston, and the 09:13 service from Holyhead will call additionally at Flint at 10:47. This will be the first scheduled Pendolino to run between Flint and London.

Completion of engineering work to upgrade the Crewe to Manchester via Wilmslow route will allow local services to begin using the route from 17 June, and Virgin Trains a few weeks later just as soon as drivers are re-familiarised with the route.
