    On September 21-23, researchers and specialists from 11 countries, including Thailand, Singapore, Brazil, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and several European countries, will meet in Umeå to begin a four-year collaboration set to enable the surveillance and control of Dengue fever.

    Using a strategy based on treating cancer cells that carry a specific genetic signature – hyper-expression of the protein Myc – with therapy that affects the stability of the cell’s DNA, more effective results can be achieved. This was discovered by Andreas Höglund in his dissertation to be publicly defended at Umeå University on September 9.

  • 450 new exchange students to arrive at Umeå University

    “We are extremely pleased that Umeå University continues to be an attractive higher educational institution for international exchange students. Approximately 450 new students are expected to arrive for the start of the autumn term, which is similar to last year,” says Per A. Nilsson, International Office Director.
