Nidec Drives spreads festive cheer with “12 Days of Charity” Initiative

Last December, Nidec Drives embraced the spirit of giving through its “12 Days of Charity” campaign, a festive initiative dedicated to supporting local charities and community projects.

Over the course of 12 days, Nidec Drives organized a series of activities to support children, families facing hardship, an animal shelter, and dignity projects, reflecting the company’s belief that making a positive impact in communities is as important as delivering precision engineering.

Thanks to employee’s generosity, the campaign achieved incredible results:

  • £616.11 (including Gift Aid) raised for Lingen Davies Cancer Fund through a Festive Bake Sale.
  • A plethora of toys donated to Salvation Army, Sue Ryder, Severn Hospice, and Save the Children charity shops, with additional toys gifted to Hafon Yr Afon café for families struggling financially.
  • £276 raised for Mind Mental Health UK during Festive Jumper Day.
  • Hygiene essentials delivered to Montgomeryshire Family Crisis Centre, with surplus items donated to The Hygiene Bank.
  • A significant donation of pet care supplies to Gonsal Farm, RSPCA, Shrewsbury.
  • Non-perishable food collected for Newtown Food Surplus and Telford United Food Bank Appeal, ensuring families in need have meals this Christmas.

In addition, Nidec Drives contributed £500 to Hope House, £1,500 to Newtown’sKindness Event, and sponsored spaces for colleagues to join the OswestrySanta Run in aid of Mind Mental Health UK.

“At Nidec Drives, we believe that our responsibility goes beyond engineering excellence, it’s about making a positive impact in the communities where we live and work. The ‘12 Days of Charity’ initiative reflects the heart of our culture; teamwork, compassion, and a commitment to helping others. The amount of positive feedback we’ve received has been inspiring. I’m proud to see our colleagues come together to support those who need it most during the festive season,” said Laurent Babaud, President of Nidec Drives.

Eleri Williams, Volunteer at Save the Children charity shop, Machynlleth, added:

“We would like to thank the employees of Nidec for their generous donations of toys, books, and puzzles. Your support helps us raise vital funds to reach children who need our help, both here in the UK and in crisis-affected countries around the world. Because of your generosity, Save the Children can continue to protect, educate, and give hope to more children.”

The company hopes to continue this tradition in future years, reinforcing its commitment to community, compassion, and corporate social responsibility.
