Nidec Appoints Tim Schamel as new CEO of the ACIM Business Unit
June 1, 2026- Nidec, a global leader in electric motors, drives, and controls powering critical industries worldwide, has announced Tim Schamel as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nidec Appliance, Commercial and Industrial Motors (ACIM) Business Unit.
This appointment is aligned to Nidec's organizational strategy to solidify its operating foundation, enhance governance while positioning businesses for long-term, sustainable growth. In this role, Schamel will report to Michael Briggs, who was nominated Appliance Automotive Division (AAD) CEO on April 1st, leading a global team allocated across over 30 manufacturing sites in 25 countries.

Previously, Schamel served as President of Nidec Commercial & Industrial (C&I), one of the platforms within the ACIM Business Unit. His ten-year career at Nidec includes prior leadership positions: President - U.S. Motors, President – HVAC motors, among others.

Under Tim Schamel’s leadership, Nidec ACIM unit will continue to deliver a comprehensive product portfolio of compressors, condensing units and motors for home and commercial appliances, as well as motors and electronic drives for commercial, residential, industrial, and utility applications.
