Nidec Group, the only company showing the Friuli- Japan model at Expo 2025 Osaka

Katia Drusian, CEO of Nidec Appliance, Commercial and Industrial Motors (ACIM), speaks at the institutional event “Selecting Italy – Japan Edition,” held at the Italian Pavilion Auditorium.

Osaka, April 25, 2025 – On April 25, Nidec Group, from Friuli Venezia Giulia taking part in the “Selecting Italy – Japan Edition,” participated in Expo 2025 Osaka at the Italian Pavilion Auditorium. The initiative, aimed to strengthen economic dialogue between Italy and Japan, featured the participation of prominent institutional figures, including the President of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, Massimiliano Fedriga; Italy’s Commissioner General Mario Vattani; ICE President Matteo Zoppas; and Deputy Minister for Business and Made in Italy, Valentino Valentini.

Katia Drusian, CEO of Nidec Appliance, Commercial and Industrial Motors (ACIM) business unit, represented the company with a speech that traced the cultural and industrial partnership between Italy and Japan, emphasizing shared values such as manufacturing excellence, responsible innovation, and respect for people and work. “When millenary civilizations meet,” she said, “intentions are combined and deep connections emerge. Being here today means engaging in a dialogue that transcends geographical and cultural borders, generating economic development and shared value.”

“I am deeply convinced that the ‘Nidec’ model of collaboration between Italy and Japan is a genuine source of inspiration, a tangible proof of how two cultures can generate results that go beyond what each could achieve alone,” Drusian added.

Part of Japan’s Nidec Corporation – a global leader in electric motor manufacturing – ACIM is one of its main Business Units, with over 18,000 employees, 30 facilities across 25 countries, $3B in revenue, and Headquarters in Pordenone – a city recently nominated Italian Capital of Culture 2027. This recognition reflects the cultural and industrial dynamism of a region that, as Drusian highlighted, “does not wait for change, but generates it.”

Drusian recently took on the role of CEO of Nidec ACIM, succeeding Valter Taranzano, who was promoted to CEO of Nidec’s Appliance Automotive Division (AAD), also headquartered in Pordenone.

In her remarks, Drusian emphasized the strategic role of Friuli Venezia Giulia and Italy as a successful example of synergy between local expertise and international vision. Pordenone is home to ACIM’s strategic and operational center, with more than 300 employees working across the manufacturing area, Research & Development (R&D), and key central functions. It is in this Headquarters that cutting-edge solutions are produced and developed for both household and professional applications, further confirming the importance of the Italian site within the international landscape of the Business Unit.

“This is where we build our future. (...) We are proud to represent an Italy that engages in dialogue with the world and that can become a global benchmark for a competitive and advanced, yet sustainable, industrial model,” Drusian explained.

At the close of her speech, ACIM CEO delivered a clear message: “This event is not just an institutional celebration. It marks the beginning of new international synergies. Because the future is built where different cultures meet to create something greater. Together.”
