Shazam predicts hottest new tunes

London, 12 May 2008 - With more than one million tracks Tagged each week by Shazam users; the world's leading mobile to web music services provider, Shazam unveils a weekly UK Top 40 Tag Chart - a strong indicator of future hit singles.

The Shazam Tag Chart features a number of tracks which have yet to be released. Coming in at number six in the chart is Ne-Yo's single Closer which looks set to be a hit on its 30th June release. Eyes are also on Sara Bareilles, Simple Plan, Taio Cruz, Vampire Weekend and Duffy who have all broken into the chart before the official release of their upcoming tracks.

TV again makes it's impact on the Shazam Tag Chart as Natalie Merchant's 1999 hit, Break Your Heart enters at number four thanks to a full length track play on Hollyoaks May 7th episode.

Shazam's chart for Monday 6th May to Monday 12th May 2008 is based on thousands of music fans across the UK using Shazam to 'Tag' their favourite tunes with their mobile phone. All you need to do is hold up your mobile phone and dial 2580 to sample a track for five to ten seconds. Shazam will identify the track and immediately text back the name of the artist and song title and log the request in the Tag Chart.
