Thule Roof Rack Named One of the 100 Most Influential Gear of All Time by Outside Magazine
The Thule Group is proud to announce that Outside Magazine has named the Thule Roof Rack as one of the most influential pieces of gear of all time. The list, which was posted on OutsideOnline.com, included 99 other notable products by Jeep, DuPont and Swiss Army. All of that said, by Outside Magazine, to have played an important role in the evolution of an active life.
“We’ve compiled a lot of lists here over the years. But assembling our first-ever list of the most important gear proved to be a monumental task. We started by casting a wide net, and compiled a working list of all the outdoor gear, from rubber rafts to pit zips to SUPs, that fundamentally altered the way we recreate outdoors, either by ushering in an entirely new sport (like snowboarding) or radically changing the way we were currently doing something (think helmet cams),” remarked Sam Moulton, Outside’s Executive Editor.
”Being included in this exclusive list is a credit to our decades of innovative product development and the passion of all the people behind the Thule products our consumer rely on and our brand which consumers trust. We are honored and humbled to be named,” said Fred Clark, the Thule Group North American President.
The Thule brand, founded in 1942, has a 70 years proven successful track record of offering a wide assortment of accessories to simplify the transportation of your gear and equipment in a secure, safe and stylish way. A number of the Thule products have become iconic over the years – like the Thule ProRide 591 / Criterium bike carrier, the Thule Hull-a-Port Pro kayak carrier and the T2 bike rack.
Since 2009 Thule has a wide assortments of bags designed and developed for an active life. The category has been successful globally and meant a close cooperation with other iconic brands like Apple with whom Thule has developed a special bag collection designed for MacBook Pro and Mac AirBook. The bags category is today the most growing category within the Thule Group.
The story, which appeared on OutsideOnline.com on Monday, May 21, 2012, featured 100 products which helped to shape the outdoor world by helping people to more readily enjoy the great outdoors. The print edition of Outside has a monthly circulation of over 675,000 in the US and produces market specific versions in Italy, Brazil, China and Sweden.
