Press release -

Tranter becomes an early-runner for new renewable chemical processes with a NovusBloc® order for a new bio plastic facility.

Stockholm, Sweden. July 6, 2022. Tranter have won an order consisting of six (6) NovusBloc® heat exchangers in stainless steel that will be installed in a Bio Plastic factory in Thailand. The engineering and procurement activities for the project were handled by a global EPC company, and the final order was placed directly by the owner of the plant.

“Our flexible approach to meeting the customer’s need in terms delivery time, by shipping the heat exchangers directly to site from Korea, was of great value for the customer. The win in this project makes Tranter an early-runner for new renewable chemical processes, with important references for this growing industry”, says Thomas Cassirer, Sales Manager Global Accounts.

The owner is based in the United States but is partly owned by a large chemical producer in Thailand, thus their investments in Thailand is likely to grow in the coming year as the world looks more and more towards renewable energy.

The plant where the NovusBloc® heat exchangers will be installed will use sugar cane as raw material to produce lactic acid, lactide, and polymer. This plant is the world’s first fully integrated PLA facility using world-leading innovation for naturally advanced materials made from renewable and abundant raw materials, with the economics and performance to compete with traditional crude oil-based products.

"With the customer being based in the United States and building a new Bio Plastics plant in Thailand, global coverage, service and support capabilities were major decision criteria for this project. Tranter, acting as a truly global company with a global sales team, local sales representatives in North America, local sales & service representatives in Thailand, and lastly our strong presence in South-East Asia gave a very convincing overall value to the customer. Our ability to work across the continents with ease and our ability to provide differential customer value with the NovusBloc® made the win for Tranter on this project”, Thomas Cassirer continues.

The construction of the plant will begin as early as 2022, with startup scheduled for early 2024.
