Lace up for the Randburg Harriers Challenge with Discovery Vitality

Johannesburg, 23 July 2025 - Get ready to move, connect, and give back! The Randburg Harriers Challenge returns this Sunday, 27 July, as the next exciting leg of the award-winning Discovery Vitality Run Series. Open to runners and walkers of all fitness levels, this vibrant community event blends fitness, fun, and purpose — with live music, a festive atmosphere, and the opportunity to support a meaningful cause through the Vitality Give2Move initiative.

The Vitality Run Series, recipient of the Event Sponsorship Award at the 2024 Sports Industry Awards, is fundamentally about encouraging greater physical activity among South Africans. Backed by Discovery Vitality’s research, the initiative highlights how regular exercise enhances overall health, lowers the risk of chronic illnesses, and supports mental wellbeing. Through programmes like this, Discovery Vitality remains committed to its goal of building a healthier nation.

Give2Move: making movement possible for all

Launched in February in collaboration with the Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Gayton McKenzie, the Vitality Give2Move campaign is a nationwide initiative aimed at breaking down barriers to physical activity. By collecting new or gently worn running and sports shoes, the campaign helps provide under-resourced communities with the tools they need to get moving and live healthier lives.

South Africans are encouraged to donate shoes at convenient drop-off points across the country, including:

• Discovery offices and Discovery stores nationwide

• Select Virgin Active and Planet Fitness locations

• Select Sportsman’s Warehouse stores

• Discovery Soccer Parks

• Selected parkrun events

For those who don’t have shoes to donate, financial contributions can be made to support the purchase of new pairs through Afrika Tikkun, a trusted non-profit organisation.

Get Active, Get Rewarded: Vitality members earn big

Members of Team Vitality, SA’s most rewarding running and cycling club, receive 25% back on their entry fees for selected race events. The events welcome runners of all fitness levels, offering options across 5 km, 10 km, and 21.1 km distances.

Team Vitality members also enjoy:

• Expert training guidance
• Premium running kit every two years

Vitality members also earn bonus fitness points for completing the race:

• 5 km: 800 points (300 base + 500 bonus)

• 10 km: 1,100 points (600 base + 500 bonus)
