A side branch of the Yellow River on the north east edge of the Tibetan plateau. Our recent work shows that the Yellow River eroded and incised the uplifting Tibetan plateau and provided the wind-blown dust material that forms the Chinese Loess Plateau, one of the worlds most important past climate archives.
