A decade of independence, music and culture - Almost Religious turns 10!

This autumn, the label group managing The Sign Records, Lövely Records, and Gaphals turns 10 years old. Throughout the years, more than 250 records have been released, countless live shows have been arranged and a total of five sub-labels has been formed. As Corona messed up the initial plans for a label birthday party with live music, the people behind Almost Religious has instead started a Kickstart campaign to raise money for exclusive vinyl releases, live shows all around Europe, and, if the campaign really takes off, their own vinyl pressing plant.

Almost Religious was formed in Linköping in east Sweden by Patrik Lindecrantz and Kaj Sivervik 2010. The first label, Gaphals, was originally thought of as a way to do anything that would be interesting to Kaj and Patrik - releasing records, arranging live shows, and publishing books. As more and more bands joined the label and the releases started to become inconsistent, genre-wise, the duo formed The Sign Records and Lövely Records and decided that Gaphals only would focus on releasing music with Swedish lyrics.

The Sign Records focuses on rock. Some notable releases on The Sign Records imprint are Hällas - "Excerpts from a Future Past", the S/T debut by Svartanatt, "Tales of the Wicked West" by MaidaVale, and "Part Human, Mostly Beast" by Honeymoon Disease. Lövely Records, on the other hand, has an alternative, 90s approach, and releases guitar-based music that doesn't necessarily contain guitars. Here you'll find True Moon's S/T debut, "New Flesh" by Priest, "The Demon King" by MCC (Magna Carta Cartel), and "In the Dead of Night" by The Dahmers, to name a few.

Besides that, Almost Religious also runs a singer/songwriter label, Daughters and Sons Records, and a nished, extreme punk label, Religious Vömit. As if that wasn't enough, they also arrange concerts in and outside of Sweden, with bookings ranging from Orange Goblin, Danko Jones, and Stiff Little Fingers to King Dude, Bob Wayne, Blues Pills and Teddybears.

To celebrate 10 years of independence and culture, the label group planned to do multiple live gigs and events. Due to the Corona-situation, the plans changed, and instead, Almost Religious started a Kickstarter campaign. The campaign will be used to support 10 more years of music and culture, and the money will be invested in special, limited pressings of vinyl, live concerts, and mini-festivals around Europe with affiliated bands. Besides that, the campaign will support new releases for this autumn, including the re-pressing of Skraeckoedlan's second album "Sagor", the fourth album by Night, and Volcanova's debut album "Radical Waves", to name a few. If the campaign really takes off, the money will be spent on a vinyl pressing plant. The rewards for supporting the campaign are, to name a few, label t-shirts, rare albums, test-pressings, and posters.
