During February 2016 lift producer Aritco Lift AB entered the home sphere and launched the unique Aritco HomeLift to fit private homes. The chosen designer for this project was Alexander Lervik, designer and innovator whose sense of lighting and industrial design makes this lift unique.
–The assignment to develop a lift from the same perspective as a piece of furniture has been a great challenge as there are both laws and security aspects to consider, explains Lervik. With this in mind I developed both the interior and exterior design, this involved a completely new solution for the control panel in order to turn an ordinary lift into a design object.
The lift requires no more space than your ordinary closet and is a very sound investment for the future when more people wish to spend their old age in their homes. The inner walls of the lift are adapted to each client’s wishes with a choice of tinted glass and a multitude of wall decorations.
– Light has been an essential part of the design process, the platform wall, called DesignWall, has a backlight with a surface that can project patterns and images made by Alexander Lervik and other Scandinavian designers. Our ambition have been to enable the greatest possible flexibility and to give the consumers a chance to personalize their lift through choices of materials and colors available, says John Löwbäck, CEO of Aritco.
Lervik's keen interest for innovation is the basis for the design but the foremost source of inspiration for the ergonomics and design came from the car industry. An evident example of this is the new control panel which replaces the lifts traditional panel. The solution by Lervik is based on a handle, which is rotated to the desired floor before being pushed. The design of the control panel and its function is new and unique and gives the lift a modern look.
The lift was launched on February the 10th during the Stockholm Design Week 2016.
