Axiell symposium shows libraries still on trend

Two intense days in London with exciting speakers, inputs and conversation are now over. 165 people participated in the event which had more than 16 speakers from USA, Scandinavia and the UK who all gave some very interesting inputs on how the library needs to rethink their business and be ready to purify their services in a digital world by entering new partnerships.

The symposium discussed how future libraries should be shaped and it gave the participants a lot of good ideas for how to develop their services despite the budgets are being squeezed. There is no doubt that the public libraries can make a difference to the local communities and as Allen Weiner from the Gartner Inc. said “the magic happens where there is knowledge” and the libraries are such a place where this can happens – both physical and digital.

The symposium showed that luminarities worldwide firmly believe in the future of libraries and the ongoing importance of reading, whether it is on a smartphone, eReader or physcial book.
