Axiell solution to manage entire audiovisual collection for The Cinémathèque québécoise

Toronto, Canada & Stockholm, Sweden, August 4 2015 – Axiell, the number one supplier of collections management technology globally, is pleased to announce that the Cinémathèque québécoise in Montréal has selected Adlib as its collections management software.

A unique cultural institution with a global multilingual audience, the Cinémathèque québécoise has collected and preserved films, videos, television programs and new media works for half a century. With Adlib, the institution’s invaluable collection is set to be enriched by a solution that ties together the one million objects in its archives, library and museum.

“We want to ensure that we can present relevant and educational information to our visitors, both when they visit the museum or when they come to one of our screenings and online. That means that we want to manage our whole collection and the one million objects that we have - from film to library to archive. Axiell’s Adlib allows us to achieve that with an up to date technology, which was one of the main reasons for our choice”, says Jean Gagnon (PhD) the Director of preservation and access to collections at the Cinémathèque québécoise.

The Cinémathèque québécoise required a flexible solution to address its multilingual requirements, and one that could integrate easily with other solutions and support leading cataloguing standards such as FRBR and leading European cataloguing standards EN15907.

After careful consideration the Cinémathèque québécoise selected Axiell’s Adlib, a solution that is already used by many prestigious film organizations. Axiell’s experience developing innovative technology for modern film instituitions and its proven ability to implement solutions rapidly will be leveraged by the Cinémathèque québécoise.

“Every institution has unique requirements”, says John Doolan, CEO at Axiell ALM. “At Axiell we are proud to be able to quickly understand the needs and market situation of our customers and collaborate to bring to life the vision they have for their institution. Our aim is always to improve the daily work for museum staff through user friendly and powerful solutions that fit their needs and ensure that their vision for the museum comes to life.

At the completion of the project, which will commence immediately with migration of the Cinémathèque québécoise’s data into Adlib, almost 50 years of collecting and preserving films, videos and television programs will be mapped, secured and available in one single collections management system.
