Benify and Athlon Introduce a Flexible Mobility Solution in the Netherlands

Stockholm, April 24, 2017 — HR-tech company Benify and mobility provider Athlon launch a new mobility proposition in the Netherlands, which allows employees to distribute their mobility benefit according to their personal needs and preferences. The system encourages employees to make eco-friendly and efficient choices in order to travel from point A to point B— while not limiting their mobility options.

The new, flexible benefit provides employees with a yearly commuting budget to cover the costs of their transportation preferences, and it allows employees to take advantage of the full scope of mobility options Athlon offers. Unused allotted mileage is awarded as a bonus and can be traded for other worksite benefits available to the employee. By presenting this new solution, Athlon and Benify are meeting the increasingly higher demands and ambitions that both employers and employees hold for their mobility benefit. The arrangement empowers the employee to receive moral, as well as, tangible rewards, and it helps employers meet their financial and sustainability goals.

Increased Demand for Individualized, Cost-Conscious Mobility Benefits

The collaboration between Benify and Athlon allows Dutch employers to reduce their costs by ensuring the popular mobility benefit is used appropriately and in a way that makes the most sense per individual employee. A person living in walking distance to his or her employer may not need a company lease car, and with the usual program rules, could wind up taking on the lease agreement anyway, using up monthly mileage and gasoline with a “use it or lose it” mentality.

“The flexibility puts an end to waste and actually becomes more useful for the employee,” says Markus Kullendorf, CEO of Benify. “This new design takes a popular benefit and infuses it with the flexibility that we have come to learn employees really want. For example, with an employee living close to work, he or she may opt to cash in his or her mobility allowance or spend just some of it on train or bus tickets; as the employee’s situation changes- moving to a suburb or needing a family sized car, for example- the benefit can be applied to meet new needs.”
