Biolin Scientific divests Osstell, focuses on life sciences

Stockholm, Sweden — April 1, 2014 — Biolin Scientific (biolinscientific.com) announces today the divestiture of Osstell, a subsidiary focused on dental diagnostic solutions, to the venture capital company Fouriertransform.  The transaction price is approximately 33 MSEK (enterprise value) and involves 100% of the shares in Osstell AB. The divestiture of Osstell is expected to be non-dilutive to Biolin Scientific’s EBITA in 2014.

“We are pleased to announce the completion of the divestiture of Osstell which is a non-strategic asset of Biolin Scientific, and excited about now focusing our energies on serving industrial and academic research customers within the life sciences and materials sciences space”, said Johan von Heijne, Chief Executive Officer of Biolin Scientific. “Our portfolio now consists of technologies that are leaders in their segments: automated patch clamp, QCM-D, tensiometry and Langmuir-Blodgett. They have growth potential and add value in drug discovery, materials R&D, and energy R&D.”

Osstell AB (osstell.com), with revenues of SEK 36 million in 2013, develops and sells innovative dental diagnostics solutions designed to reduce treatment time and to manage patients at risk. Its proprietary technology uses a small transducer and resonance frequency analysis to determine the stability and clinical status of dental implants. The method has been used in numerous clinical studies since 1992 and is today used by dentists and dental surgeons in many countries around the world. Osstell has its headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden.
