BLAST Pro Series receives "Event of the Year" award in Portugal

João Amorim, Commercial Manager, Altice Arena:

- We had the pleasure of hosting the very first BLAST Pro Series Lisbon. It was an incredible experience for all involved and the fans created a great atmosphere. The event has a very positive and inclusive vibe to it and is really entertainment for all with focus on just that: Fun, engaging, educational, inclusive and exciting entertainment.

In December 2018, BLAST Pro Series Lisbon took place in a sold out Altice Arena with one of the most electric crowds esports has ever seen.

Shortly after, BLAST Pro Series was nominated for Event of the Year in Portugal and won against other very competent nominees.

The now award winning BLAST Pro Series Lisbon tournament was won by Astralis.

Jordi Roig, Executive Producer for BLAST Pro Series:

- We are incredibly humbled to be given this award. But it’s important to mention that this is not just our award. It belongs to the audience at BLAST Pro Series Lisbon as well, who blew us away with their passion and engagement. Receiving this type of recognition is only possible with amazing fans like the ones we see at BLAST events, Jordi Roig says and adds:

- As much as we love to reminisce about the past, we are currently looking forward to ensure that our two upcoming BLAST Pro Series tournaments in São Paulo and Miami will be equally memorable and award-deserving, Jordi Roig says.

BLAST Pro Series São Paulo sold out in less than 8 hours and will be the host city for the first BLAST event of the year. Next up is BLAST Pro Series Miami, as the award winning live esports entertainment format is making its debut in the US with a fully announced team list, packed with US talent like Team Liquid and Cloud9, with tickets still available.

The incredible crowd at BLAST Pro Series Lisbon had the most spectacular energy and are the reason that BLAST Pro Series left its mark on the beautiful city.

Jordi Roig, Executive Producer for BLAST Pro Series:

- Receiving the award in Portugal gives us confirmation that this is something people really want. That’s been very clear in all the cities we’ve been to so far. But 2019 will be the year where we take it even further. São Paulo and Miami will be the first of quite a few BLAST events in 2019 and for every event we want to build on the experiences of the previous events to keep BLAST Pro Series thrilling and exciting to attend, Jordi Roig says.

This award is not the first for BLAST Pro Series. In 2017, the Copenhagen Congress and Events Award Show awarded the revolutionary esports concept “Initiative of the Year” for the very first BLAST Pro Series tournament that took place in front of 12,000 people in Royal Arena, Copenhagen.
