RFRSH Entertainment receives big Event Award for BLAST Pro Series

Every year Wonderful Copenhagen and the Municipality of Copenhagen celebrate the city’s most signigicant events.

At the Copenhagen Congress and Event Award 2018 hosted by the City of Copenhagen the 4 winners of this years' events were announced, and in the category of “Initiative Award of the Year”, RFRSH Entertainment received the prize for the record-setting esports event BLAST Pro Series.

BLAST Pro Series is an international series of events and the 2018 season will feature four events in big, international cities while in 2019 eight cities around the world will host BLAST Pro Series.

Big esports event wins award at Copenhagen Congress and Event Award 2018.

Wonderful Copenhagen and the Municipality of Copenhagen celebrates the organizers of some of the the city’s big events every year. This happens at the Copenhagen Congress and Event Award which focuses on congresses and sport events.

The Copenhagen Congress and Event Award 2018 took place in late april at the Copenhagen Town Hall and four awards was announced.

I the category of “Initiative Award of the Year”, RFRSH Entertainment and their big scaled esports event BLAST Pro Series received the award. The BLAST Pro Series Copenhagen 2017 event was the world premiere of esports’ newest and most compelling live format. The 9 hours long event was held in the sold-out Royal Arena with crowd of 12,000 people and was transmitted to approximately 4.9 million viewers worldwide.

The event was on all parametres a reinvention of esports as a live experience and succeeded in approaching a broader audience than esports are used to. On top of that, the event was used to brand Copenhagen and to attract talents from the IT business. BLAST Pro Series was for instance part of a interactive campaign which got attention all over the world.

Apart from the Initiative Award, the event included the announcement of the categories “Congress Host of the Year for Congress with more than a 1,000 participants”, “Congress Host of the Year for Congress with less than a 1,000 participants” and “Sports Event of the Year”. The award winners were respectively The Emergency Response of the Capital Region of Denmark, the Danish science journalists for their congresses and the Danish Swimming Federation for their organizing of the European Swimming Championships.

Copenhagen is every year the host city for a large number of international congresses and sports events. Above generation a billion turnover for the city, they all together bring the sharing of knowledge and attract investments and international talents. Leaders of these initiatives are often Danish hosts or organizers who have a paramount influence on the capital’s ability to attract a big number of international congresses and event.

- The big knowledge congresses and sports events that we every year attracts to the capital every year with our public and private partners brings jobs and turnovers. Both within business and in the society. As a consequence, it is important to us to celebrate the local hosts and enthusiasts who is a critical part of the effort, says Mikkel Aarø-Hansen, CEO of Wonderful Copenhagen.
