BODUM’s new branch on the tree has bark

BODUM has started a new design line using cork. It is one of Nature’s most beautiful and functional materials. Cork is produced from the bark of the Cork Oak growing in the Mediterranean area, especially in Portugal, that delivers about half of all the cork used world wide.
“Cork is a 100% natural and sustainable material. And we practically have the cork trees growing right outside our windows,” Jørgen Bodum explains.

Because most of the BODUM products are manufactured at the company facility in Portugal, where responsibility for the environment is already a top priority. ”No waste. Just taste”.
The good cup of coffee has been the very soul and fabric of everything BODUM has done since its inception. It is a story that goes back to 1944, when Britta and Peter Bodum founded the company in Copenhagen. The brand really made it big with the Chambord French press. Actually in 55 different countries. Bodum is still family owned, with Jørgen Bodum at the helm: “Good coffee beans, a glass beaker, a steel filter, and freshly boiled water is all that is needed to brew the world’s best cup of coffee, and that is how it has always been.” The new Pour Over pot, beautifully surrounded by cork, is no exception. Using the steel filter, all the fine flavours are preserved.” Jørgen Bodum is quiet, while the rest of us are thinking of the rising debate on poorly degradable aluminium capsules and lead. And the superfluous paper filters.
