I am the emperor penguin Bowie, the mascot of Bowspirit Kids, on the beautiful Ekström Ice Shelf in the north of Antarctica near Neumayer-Station III.

The stay with the Bowspirit Kids will be completely free for all kids. We are not building a luxury liner for wealthy families here. We don't care where you come from. We want to know who you are.

Bowspirit Kids is an offer of the society, the crowd, to the children. We are just the organisers. And because we are supported by the crowd - ultimately, of course, financially - the families, the communities, the doctors treating them will know about us and will drop the keyword "Bowspirit" at the right time.

When the child then wants to come to us, he or she contacts us - with a letter, a picture, a video message - whatever, and tells us what happened.

Our onboarding team will then contact the kid and its parents and discuss everything else.

The stay with us has to be organised a little bit, because on the one hand we want to avoid too long journeys. And on the other hand we will work with homogeneous groups on board. For the children it is totally important that they don't have to talk about what happened. If, for example, I have had cancer therapy, it will be easier if I know that my new playmate knows what that means. I can talk to her about it and how I feel. But I don't have to, because she already knows.
