To some, the travel sector would appear to be an industry sitting in the slow lane of the information superhighway.

In fact, the industry is embracing a range of new technologies to improve users' experiences of destinations and journeys; speed up bookings and registrations; and extend trips to enable travelers to relive holidays when they return home.

Some of the key technologies being trialed and adopted by the travel industry today include recognition systems, chatbots and AI, augmented and virtual reality, the Internet of Things, and robots--both behind the scenes, to detect weapons or forbidden items, and front of house to meet, greet, and guide guests.

The Women in Telecoms and Technology (WiTT) event in May will feature a panel that will examine these and other tech trends that are reshaping the travel sector.

Among the speakers is CWT CTO Andrew Jordan, who'll share the ground-breaking, AI-backed innovations CWT is applying to travel technology to increase efficiency and decrease costs for its clients.
