Castrols John Bryant-Meisner got on the Oschersleben podium twice

Castrol sponsored John Bryant-Meisner backed up his third-place finish at EuroSpeedway Lausitz a fortnight ago with a further two visits to the podium at Oschersleben this weekend, as the ATS Formula 3 Cup field engaged in battle for the penultimate time this year. 

Bryant-Meisner set off from third on the grid in the opening race of the meeting, but soon overtook American Gustavo Menezes to shoot into second place. The Swede then consolidated his position throughout the closing stages, eventually crossing the line four seconds clear of Menezes. Victory, meanwhile, went to Lotus driver Marvin Kirchhöfer, who simultaneously secured the 2013 ATS Formula 3 Cup title. 

In the subsequent second race – where the top eight finishers from Race 1 start in reverse order – Bryant-Meisner then leapt from seventh on the grid to fourth by the chequered flag, before adding a further 15 points to his tally by coming home third in the concluding Race 3 on Sunday afternoon. In doing so, the 18-year-old took to the podium for the sixth time so far this season. 

“A very good weekend for us; one of the best of the year, actually,” says John Bryant-Meisner. “It’s always important to end a season in the strongest way possible, and with three podiums from the last four races, I think we’re well on the way to doing that. We finally seem to have put all our recent bad luck behind us, and we now have to make sure we cap it all off in style at the finale in two weeks’ time - which I think we’re as well-placed as anyone to do. Last but not least, I would like to congratulate Marvin on his championship title; he has done a good job all year, and he’s a worthy champion.”

The 2013 ATS Formula 3 Cup finale takes place at Hockenheim – where John Bryant-Meisner undertook two days of FIA Formula 3 European Championship testing earlier this week – on September 27-29.

Bryant-Meisner currently sits fifth overall in the championship standings.
